Hey, it’s Shana & Vanessa! We’re so glad you’re here.
We know you’ve tried this. You’ve tried that. Sometimes you’re motivated, sometimes you’re not. You care about how you look and feel but maybe you don’t like to talk about it much to others or even to yourself. We also know there is so much information out there you’re not sure where to start and who to believe.
That’s where we come in.
We understand that you’re being pulled in a million directions and focussing on your health seems like the last item on an endless to-do list. We make getting health make sense according to your specific goals and lifestyle. We also make things simple and apply a step-by-step approach in order to help you establish habits and rhythms that you can adopt without a lot of stress and maintain without drama.
At our first session, we will assess the situation. Believe us, we’ve seen worse. We will provide the safe, non-judgmental, dare-we-say-even-fun atmosphere for you get it all out on the table. This is an important step because it’s almost always worse in your head than it is on paper. We will look at all metrics of health including fitness levels, weight, body fat, nutrition, body image, water intake and more.
2. Cast Vision
Now that the “hard part” is over, we will talk to you about your goals and your vision for the future. What does health mean to you? How do you want to feel? What things do you want your body & health to be able to do for you in the future? We’ll ask these questions and more.
3. Create a plan
This is where we nerd out. We will help you establish a realistic plan that will put you on a path to achieving the future you laid out. We will help you create a plan, establish habits and systems to work the plan that include exercise, water intake, meal plans, recipes, intuitive eating, active recovery days and more.
4. Coaching & Accountability
This is where the magic happens. You don’t have to do this alone! We will coach you as you begin to integrate the positive habits and disciplines we teach along with dropping the ones that aren’t serving you. We will hold you accountable to the goals you set for yourself while encouraging you and helping you overcome obstacles that inevitably come up.
What is health coaching?
We combine a proven, step-by-step process that includes coaching on nutritional best practices, functional fitness, metrics, habit training, emotional eating, mindset training and a wee bit o’ tough love. We typically meet twice a month for 45 minute sessions. We do not sell any products and we are not counselors. There are no long-term contracts, you can stop coaching at any time.
First and foremost, you can expect uninterrupted time and space to focus on you. There are no tangents. There is no back and forth. This is just 100%, uninterrupted focus-on-you time.
Next, expect some pretty mind-blowing moments where you really begin to understand yourself, your thoughts and your actions in a brand new way.
After our initial session, we will create a plan that we will help you carry out to achieve your goals. Each session will involve a check in on the action steps from the last session, goal status, obstacles and successes and homework for the next session.
How long do I need a health coach?
Some people choose to work with a coach as they work to achieve a specific goal. Others see it as a lifetime self-care investment. At Ideal Balance, you can end the coaching relationship at any time as our contract is month-to-month.
I’m successful. Shouldn’t I be able to reach my goals on my own?
While many successful people have achieved great things in the past without a life coach, life is increasingly complex, busy and there are many things pulling for your attention. Just like Olympic athletes, you will go further faster with a coach who can help you distill your thoughts and desires, provide objective feedback and perspective along with personalized encouragement and support.

One of our favorite things we heard lately was someone say, “I don’t use recipes.” We thought to ourselves, “Hey, that’s us!” Most people have this belief that eating healthy is complicated or requires a lot of work. Actually, we think it’s easier than eating the way culture promotes. Yes, eating healthy requires less ingredients, less time and…
Diets have gotten us into trouble because they continue to have people thinking they have to eat food they hate in order to lose weight. Lots of salads, dry chicken breasts and so forth. Unfortunately, restricting yourself to foods you don’t like is a way to guarantee you won’t be successful. And, even if you’re…
